Hello, guys! Remember the Filipino Readercon last year during the Manila International Book Fair at SMX, Mall of Asia? It was a success because we were able to invite a good number of readers, writers, book club members, book bloggers, educators, and book publishers that helped us to spread our passion and advocacy about the importance of reading (and education) in our nation. For this year, Filipino Readercon is cooking up really great happenings for us this coming August. It’s now bigger, bolder, and greater! As early as now, block off the date so you’ll not miss out this wonderful event!

I’m so glad to inform you that this is a whole-day event! There will be a lot of activities, panel discussions, book talks prepared for us. If you want to know, check out the event’s schedule

“The Filipino Readers Choice Awards seeks to engage the Filipino reading public in honoring their favorite Philippine-published titles. An initiative of the Filipino Book Bloggers Group, the Filipino RCA was established to develop awareness and appreciation of Philippine literature; recognize the reader’s role in creating the meaning and experience of a literary work; and give the readers a voice in the Philippine book industry.”

What are you waiting for? You can now start nominating your favorite books! The mechanics: the books nominated should be published in the Philippines during January 2010 to December 2011. Here are the categories:

  • Children’s picture book
  • Chick lit
  • Novel in English
  • Novel in Filipino
  • Comics / Graphic novels
  • Short story anthology
