Wicked: The Life and Times of the Wicked Witch of the West

Wicked: The Life and Times of the Wicked Witch of the West by Gregory Maguire

Bookmarks: 4/5

The book told the life and afterlife of the Wicked Witch of the West. She is a witch. She is green. She is Elphaba. Her life as kid who is somewhat not accepted by the norms of the society because of her green skin and queer personality. She is ridiculed, discriminated but her skills and how she thinks about things is extraordinary. She lived her life in darkness yet she found love in Fiyero.

How, where and why she became a witch? Who is Yackle in her life? The wizard? Why is the wizard after her? Why there is someone controlling her life? Why and How did Dorothy killed her? Many questions. Answered right here in this book.

I wish Gregory Maguire made the story a little less civilized (errr, the idea of Shiz university) and a little more exciting (yeah, some parts bored me and I read the book for two weeks, regardless of being busy). But the book turned out really good, especially the last part. I loved it! Especially, I love the Oz series. :)

(I am not really good at book reviews *sigh* ._.)
